Paper patterns in Droppy's class

Submitted by trupti on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 15:43.

Today in Droppy's class we had an interesting session where we tried to fold a sheet of newspaper to make it as small as we could. We also counted the number of folds it took to make it that small. We observed and counted all the shapes on the sheet and then tried to cut out patterns in our paper using scissors. we has interesting things coming up like keys with a keychain, a photograph, triangles, rectangles, diamonds, etc.

Girraffa, Zebree, cowfant

Submitted by trupti on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 12:23.

We had a lot of fun today exploring and mixing and matching animals. We tried to name them and in the process, we had very interesting names like a cowfant, zebree, girraffa, etc.
With the set of animals from the toy box, we also did a role play of animals fighting and hurting otehr animals and then tried to make up our own codes of not doing so with our friends as it hurts them. So we spent a lot of time trying and pushing the wall whenever we felt like pushing others and hitting the wall when we felt an urge to hit others.
We are slowly learning.

We saw different animals in the book and were imitating their expressions, later we moved on to see them on the OHp and were surprised when suddenly only the cats face was seen and no body and got even more curious when the cat got the body of the girrafe. Enjoyed arranging the faces and bodies separately of the animals.

Today I went to Dropy's class for role play. Each one of them became one one aunty, suddenly one of them said I have become PAdma Aunty but I am not aunty I am a boy,
After fruity time when I went again to dropys class we did a small story of thirsty crow and all of tehm tried bringing the water up for the crow. the only constraint that i put was the crow cannot fill water from the bathroom and also cannot pour water from the bottle. Each one had a small pot and they started with tearing newspaper and explored the whole stationary rack with some of them still running to fill water from the tap.

Root salad

Submitted by trupti on Thu, 04/09/2008 - 12:46.

We had a lot of fun today mixing up some roots to make a root salad. The fun did not stop there. NExt came a real broom and dust pan and we had a great time cleaning up the room and putting every bit of paper and roots in the dust bin.
In Shivani Aunty's class, I went in for role play and enjoyed becoming a little genie and two of the genies from the class became the Aunty and tried to stop people from fighting, snatching, hitting, etc. It was nice to see the little ones take up the role of a "teacher" with a lot of thoughts and details.

Aunty role play

Submitted by trupti on Tue, 02/09/2008 - 23:27.

Today we were making a scene using some coconut shells and newspaper to tell a story. One little genie kept asking aunty to tell a story and so I told her that she is aunty and I am her. I acted like her for a while and kept asking her to tell a story. It was indeed a lot of fun to see the surprised look on her face when I acted like a child.
