cha sound analysis

During our module on phonic awareness  objective, we were finding words starting the sound with cha-- children were finding the same from  telling many words, from reading a book or from words written around. One child found a word starting with ch  and the word is chatracter-- so as the child was trying to read the word by herself she took help from others and we all joined to read the word, they tried many ways and in the end we read as character and children started to analyse the difference like it is not starting with cha sound instead it is ca sound and they told h is silent in the word.
