Pot(Toilet) is also a bucket

Submitted by mina on Thu, 2 Jul 2009
  • funny

Our little one, who is 1.5 yrs old is always very curious about the pot. He keeps going off to the toilet whenever it is left open and wants to put his hand inside and explore the water.. Today he picked up a mug too, to the scoop out the water.

I was trying to explain the difference between the bucket and the pot – I showed him the handle of the bucket and he showed me the seat of the pot, when it struck me that they are very similar too – shape is similar, seat and handle are similar, both hold water. Hmmm

Are you a mammal?

Submitted by mina on Mon, 22 Jun 2009
  • funny

My daughter and I were reading a book and the discussion went meandering on other topics. I thght - let me dish out some information and i spoke to her about mammals (give birth to young ones from their tummies). We discussed various other things and then somewhere she asked me - are you a mammal? (since she is an adopted child and didnt come from my tummy)
Took time out and explained that she came from someone elses tummy, but the question - are you a mammal sticks on ..... :))

Today, we made Hindusatni flag while having bath. This is how my daughter described the steps to make her creation:
Ingredients:
Two bottle caps, one big and one small
Some water
A toothbrush or anyother stick like thing
Procedure:
Take one full, one half and one full cup of small cap full of water. Pour into the big cap. Now cover the big caps mouth with small cap. Then put the toothbrush or stick inside it. Thats the Hindustani flag!!
Asked her how shall we hoist it?
Cant hoist it she said, coz the stick falls down !!

Teamwork in action

Submitted by mina on Thu, 9 Apr 2009

For the last few days, we have been having some renovation going on at home. The carpenters have been busy at work.

What amazed me was the way in which they were working. To convert an idea on paper into a finished product with such precision and little wastage calls in for a lot of thinking and co-ordination.

The way in which they were working was really the essence of teamwork. There was so little noise and they were working with a smile on their face, each one doing their job to perfection.

I felt it was the definition of teamwork

A few days ago, Anoushka said – Amma, now what did I do wrong

She said – When you ask me questions that means I did something wrong..

Hmmmm

Letter to Mama

Submitted by mina on Thu, 26 Feb 2009

One of the children in SS comes into session always smiling.

Last session, she came in crying - I want to go back to Mama, go home.

We tried different things. Finally gave her a paper and pencil and asked her if she'd like to write a letter to her Mama. In few minutes, she'd dealt with her emotions, expressed herself and was back into the groove... The power of letters......

Ring fights

Submitted by mina on Thu, 26 Feb 2009

Anoushka wanted to wear a finger ring to school. These days, there is a need to "dress up" and I did not contest.

Aunty asked her about ring and she said – My mom asked me to wear it….

She came home and I found that she’d removed the ring and kept it in its place..

I asked – what happened

We fought becoz of the ring – she said.

I asked - What else makes us fight

Dupatta, "chungi dresses" ……

Maybe I shld just keep my mouth shut more often..

hardwork.......

Submitted by mina on Tue, 10 Feb 2009

A couple of days ago, children were in the sand area and one child had made his looong "road". Another came and "spoilt" it.

One genie got very upset and was telling the other - "It is his hardwork, why did you spoil it?"
