Today I was giving the pyjama party note to all children to send it with them. One child saw me writing the Pyjama Party and said pratyush is coming so much. I then heard him and said,"  Yeah you are right we forgot to send the note with him today". Then he again said aunty so many pratyush is coming in the note na, !! Then aunty got the message that the child has recognised the P letter and associated it with a child's name. A different way of connecting letters

innocent salesreps in jungle class

Submitted by meera on Wed, 10 Mar 2010

Today each one of them selected their choice of shop counters for selling things. One child became the socks seller. When she got an interested buyer, she said we have three sizes-small, medium and large . She saw the size of the child and immediately selected the small size socks and said this will match for you-You can choose this. This did not dampen the spirits of the buyer. He still insisted on the medium size socks and the seller said it costs eleven rupees even for the small size but sold it to him. At another counter where there was rubberbands being sold, the seller shouted at the customer, you can't take so much--Only three is allowed.  At yet another counter, the seller sold the wool to the customer and started giving away his tokens to the buyer. The scenes at our market place were quite funny and memorable

unlimited exploration of expresso table

Submitted by meera on Wed, 3 Mar 2010

Initially we were wondering whether expresso tables turned out to be too heavy for the kids. But the apprehensions are gone now. Today two children in the class tied up the loose plastic edges of the tables like a boogie train and when the class got over figured out how to untie the knot themselves. Another child called his friend and they together shouted bajji bajji  by placing the expresso table on their head and carrying it to its stand . Some children showed their hand saying they want bajji. Pat came replay you pay me hundred million rupees and we were sitting amused at such a humungous figure for a bajji and said we can afford only 2 rupees. But the child was firm that it costs so much.

All iz well

Submitted by meera on Wed, 10 Feb 2010

Today during snack time I got the message from a child's mother that it is better if she missed the water games today. So I threw the question across to her "Do you feel like staying away from water play since mummy says you are not feeling well. She happily replied " Aunty All iz well aunty so Anagha is well and she wants to come to the water play. All of us enjoyed her funny reply and she sat and watched others playing water games after deciding on her own not to wet her dress.

Shocking technique

Submitted by meera on Wed, 3 Feb 2010

Today we explored telephone instrument and we made teams , one child read out the number stuck on the phone and another child tried punching the numbers and the topic was how they convince their van drivers to come to gk fast as they are waiting. Another child talked to their daddy. Suddenly two or three kids went to a seperate corner and drew something and they told aunty they had a surprise for me. Then they took the paper opened it and placed it on my back. Then they shouted aunty got electric shock from the wire. I reacted by rolling my eyes and shaking my head. This came up again in the activity time and they were enjoying this act. I later opened the sheet and saw that they had drawn a face by the door and a bulb hanging by the side of it and they had drawn curvy patterns coming down from the light to represent it as shock waves. Music with fluttering paper strips

Submitted by meera on Wed, 6 Jan 2010

Today we played two sets of instrumental music. Everyone was all eager to get the paper strips on their hands. We tried different kind of movements like waves, hopping and jumping, shaking the hands and seeing the paper strip flutter sideways and going around the circle and reverse movements etc. The time was flying and aunty was unprepared for the blue mats to come for meditation and so today we did meditation without blue mats. The yoga pictures were quite interesting and the children tried doing them after aunty pointed to them.

smooth satin waves

Submitted by meera on Wed, 16 Dec 2009

Today we decided to know more about our letter A bogie children in jungle class. Started with the child who joined us this month. We gave the satin ribbon in her hand and asked how she liked being in our class. Aunty wrote down what she said and passed it on to the next child and when the turn finished we moved the ribbon like a wave three times and went on till we covered the whole class. Next aunty had chart paper strips which was torn and aunty quickly wrote the A child name with each child and stapled it to the satin ribbon and the friendship band was tied by the child to everyone's hand. She was quite happy with the whole ritual. Thanks to aditi aunty for this tip.

helpful alert aunty

Submitted by meera on Thu, 10 Dec 2009

Today during fruity time, there were one tetrapack mango juice and one bottled mango juice  and one child was crying that both of them belonged to her. The previous day, the child had dropped the tetra pack juice in the class and I knew that it was hers. Another child was very sure that bottled juice  belonged to him and claimed the juice to be his. Since another aunty was in the class, I tried to clarify over the phone with the mother of one child  but she was unable to help as she could not contact the daddy who got the juice. I said we will manage and went back to class. Girija aunty immediately got into action and started checking the bags in great detail and found that the child already had the juice inside her bag and sorted the confusion for aunty and the kids. But the other child continued to claim that it was hers and aunty let her cry after writing the letter to her mother that she wanted a new juice bottle with yellow cap.

surprised by two aunties

Submitted by meera on Wed, 25 Nov 2009

One child said you cannot do this and that to one particular aunty who smiled through out by keeping her cool especially for the sunshine and daily schedule time. Thanks for taking care of another child during mixer exploration .One parent explained about the rotor in the mixer similar to ceiling fan and he also helped to coordinate with the safety issues of using the mixer by standing near the main switch and oning it when a child was ready. During activity time colorful helipads, red lights for the runway, fancy colorful planes made it interesting to note. Expresso time was different in the sense the ideas came from a parent to make a pizza with icecream sticks and everyone tried the same. There was lot of sharing happening between a parent and another child when the parent gave her limousine car to be colored by another child and it was peacefully accepted by her son. They all wanted to use the remaining tickets and aunty said we can used it for next pcd.
