Sensitive senses

We explored the feel of different objects….whether they were rough, smooth, hard, soft. Their color, shape, smell and sound.
We did painting but with a difference, we used straws to blow the paints on the paper….

We told rhymes and remembered the rhymes told by others. We ended the session by making greeting cards for the New Year….

Wish You All A Merry Christmas!!!
&
A Very Happy New Year 2007!!!

Sounds of Music

Today we explored various musical instruments and tried to find out,
Which sound we liked?
Which sound we don’t like?
What are the names of the instruments?
How do the instruments make sound?
Why do we blow into some instruments?
Why do we beat/hit on some instruments?
We explored their shapes, color etc.
We drew pictures of the instruments.

Then we played all the instruments together and then when I asked, “How was the music?” The responses were, “It is bad”, “I can’t hear anything”, “Aunty lets do it again it was fun!”

During snack time also we were listening for sounds and the highlight was… “Bells” and yes it was the, ICECREAM MAN.

We ended the day by building the tallest tower possible in teams, using two different kinds of blocks. Which brought out the team work, creativity and they really tried all possible ways to make the tower!!

MELA Revisited

Fresh after MELA on 9th December, we decided to revisit the rooms where we had MELA the previous week. The children who could not come to MELA were shown around by their friends, which was responded by, where is it now? This is some other Aunty’s class? Shh..Shh.., Aunty we also want to play that game etc.

Back in class we decided to make a list of what we saw in MELA. We had all kinds of responses including one boy saying. “Aunty the food was only vegetarian like Bhel Puri, Pani Puri….”.When another girl chipped in with “Aunty I ate chicken in MELA”.

Mela Musings

Great Mela - jumble mela to form Meal - so great meal!

The Mela-Meal had the flavor of all ages. The masala had a blend of co-operation, team-work, patience, leadership, creativity, decision-making. For all the butterflies in our stomachs it had a real calming effect. Children shouldered the word responsibility with a capital R.

My Kittens were purr..fect. A big MEOW from ME to U….
