Review of 8th batch of TTT

Hi

Post lunch returned home with a very dull and gloomy feeling, wishing that the TTT (transform the trainer) program never got over, as it was so rich with experiences, thoughts, feelings and so much about the fundamentals of our beliefs, consciousness,...which all of us tend to forget in the daily grind or the in hush bush of life...

Went through the coloring review which I did in class,, There were all colors black, white, green, pink, blue, orange, yellow, red and I saw yellow telling me

Anjana cheer up!!! this is not the end in fact this is the beginning..:-)

Black indicated so much of shaken up areas, frustration in learnings, not so clear pictures, not able to see through from which then emerged the most beautiful rich and vibrant colors,
yellow denoting the rising sun, the sunflower, the mustard fields....
white denoting the purity, serenity, sincerity and genuineness...
blue indicating the vast open sky, the wide oceans, the flowing rivers ...no limit to our learnings....
red indicating the strong feelings and the emotions...
pink denoting my emerging consciousness..
green the most significant indicating growth...and lo!!! I have cheered myself.

So do you...( if at all required)...

HOM & VALUES - Anjana's thoughts

Today's class has once gain left me stirred, shaken, agitated and forcing me to think think and to explore (and I am overloaded Ratnesh)...But this time I know how to handle my emotions, feelings and  thoughts better...by accepting they are good for me...until I reach my own answers...

Last night I was discussing my decision making activity with my family. It was something like this
For 3 to 4 years old.. I would give them cuttings of different colored leaves like, green to be sure and black and brown and allow them to decide which color to be pasted???
This question came up as to what if the child were to choose a black leaf?? I gave my point that I cannot accept that as I would be giving a wrong concept to the child. Karan just took me around (we were having dinner at an open kind of dhaba where there was very little light outside) and asked me ma what is the color of the tree you see now?? I was struck...The same sort of example was discussed in class today and certainly has opened my eyes.. Children by themselves are a wonderful source to learn from...

The stick activity has given me a lot of insights and made me aware: To be focused and not get distracted. I also reflect on the debatable topics we had both last session and todays session. It was comparatively so much more peaceful being able to listen to others and I was able to think why am I agreeing or disagreeing to her view and at some places was open to others view too.

The joy or the freedom to learn you brought up in class makes me reflect and find out what a need or a want is?? What is the necessity for me to have the B.ed qualification or is it for the sheer joy of wanting to know about the pedagogy of teaching and learning. This opens me to a totally different and a new perspective of taking up my exams.

The values topic takes me a step further. Is a value situational, circumstantial or  a just a matter of convenience?? If that is the case then what is right or wrong??? What are ethics all about??? True to the core, that I need to develop coping skills in my children but at the cost of one's own values...I do not know and am yet to figure out...

Figuring it out

spoorthi's thought on thinking

Thanx Ratnesh, "You made me think."

In the beginning of our session, we were given us a set of situations, wherein how we would approach to each one of the them, this itself put us on the path of thinking for instance there was question,

If u would have the opportunity to choose a name, what would it be?

For this simple task, there is nothing so called as gained knowledge, that we have to apply it here, but yet through our thinking we could create something distinct using our creativity, analytical skills, and decision making prowess so on and so on and so forth, which gives us the sense of achievement.

I would like to ponder here, is it not that we all want our children to be, creative, analytic, decision maker, and so on.

Many of us in beginning of our session felt knowledge is very vital, because it helps us doing a particular task better but as the journey progressed, we realized how knowledge can be so insignificant thing, when we realized, we did not know or remember the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, we were stuck there, but when we really thought, we realized it is no big deal, and we could find out anywhere, if we wanted to.

When I sit down to introspect, I feel thinking always precedes actions. Thinking precedes new ideas and addressing new opportunities. We want to make people think about our words. Thinking also helps in drawing people towards what u believe to be true.

We also realized knowledge is of no value, unless we learn how to get that knowledge.
Hence in the session on thinking, we realized it is once we have our thinking process in right, it is not a problem to get that knowledge or whatever information is required at a particular moment.

For children to be better thinkers, we must give them the opportunity to explore, by not immediately helping them or answering them, by doing this we make them think of numerous possibilities and hence give them opportunity to learn and do things from each of those possibilities. We should never forget that children love experimenting and they cannot just do without it hence we need to put up with it. We should never make them feel they are committing sin by making mistakes, because it shatters their thinking and their sense of values. We need to respect their thinking and be nonjudgmental about it. We need to facilitate their thinking process with the right inputs at the right time.

We need to tap their wonderful and undiscovered power lying within themselves or within each of us.

Shalini's thoughts on thinking session

Hello,
I liked today's session. It was very informative session which I wanted to implement the moment I reached home. The previous day my daughter had asked me a question which I had replied in an awkward manner. Today I put back the question to her, as to what does she think.. She resisted me and said she wanted me to answer her question. For all her questions, I started putting back the question to her and she was so frustrated.. "Mamma, you are the one who is supposed to answer my questions !". I still didn't give in. Finally by end of the day I had a small victory.. She asked me "mamma, why are you putting cream on your face ", I asked her back.."guess why ?" and she started crying.. "you should answer it ", so I put some cream on her face and asked her to think what made mamma feel when she put the cream. She hesitated answering again. Finally as she was going to sleep, I put my hand on her face and said .. "hmm.. its so soft.." and her exact words were " yes, I know why you put the cream, u feel refreshed and soft and smells nice ". I was happy.. she was on the road to thinking...
