Aarohi Tracking Progress of a Child
Tracking is a visual representation of our observations of a child.
We work with 50 parameters based on the eight multiple intelligences. We note our observation on all of these parameters and assign a number to mark off our observations.
This is done once a month (the first week of every month)
The track for June (or the joining month for the child) shows the base number 1 (for all children) on all the parameters. From the next month onwards, the progress of the child on the parameter is indicated by the number assigned.
For example, if the child shows a significant progress on a particular parameter, then the next number is assigned on that parameter, i.e. 2.
If the child shows the same level on a particular parameter, the number is same as that of the previous month, i.e. 1.
This process continues every months and the child's progress is mapped with increasing numbers.
Please note that the numbers are not absolute - which means if number 2 is accorded to a child in Nov month - the number 2 in itself does not mean anything. (it is not a rating).
The importance of number 2 is relative - based on what number is given say in dec and then in jan.
So if it was 2 in nov then 2 in dec and then 3 in jan - that means the child is PROGRESSING on that parameter.
That is why the number itself is not important - but the pictorial graph shows the "TREND" or TRACK.
Please realise that it is possible that for a particular parameter we did not get enough observation in a particular month - (maybe the child was absent or did not get enough opportunities to display that particular parameter) - in which case the previous tracking value is retained.
Also, its very important for you to realise that, mere non-observation of significant progress DOES NOT MEAN that progress is not happeneing. Many a times progress is "not manifested" - almost like roots growing hidden inside the soil and then suddenly one day we see a shoot!
Also, please realsie the tracking giveing by us is limited by our ability, time and opportunity to observe every single parameter in every single child. Hence tracking is best understood over a period of many months.
Lets look only at the PROGRESS within a parameter.
Lets not compare between the values of the parameters.
Lets understand the progress make in each parameter independently and then lets plan for the child for each parameter separately.
It goes without saying there is NO COMPARISON between two children. There is also no ideal chart. While we like statistics, we believe the bell curve has done more harm to children :-). So we do not have any aggregate scores. Each child is unique and special.
Tracking is, hence, not an assessment but a planning tool, - This is how we look at and use this tracking system internally.
Request you to do the same.
NOTE: We do not encourage parents to see tracking in the beginning months - wait for atleast one quarter. It is too early to look at any progress - we are doing this for our track.
We send formal mail about tracking only by mid of sept (just before one to one session with parents).
Your child's track is hosted online (using google charts). To reach your child's chart's link
1. Login into geniekids website with your child's login
2. Goto "My Account" (from the left bar menu) - or if you are already logged in - click here
3. Click on the link below the title Progress Tracking.
Do email us your feedback, queries, comments etc.
