Day 5 - 2 Apr 2010

what we did

  • today children came to the session with full of enthusiasm
  • as usual we discussed what they did in the previous session and what they did after going home
  • we did meditation
  • before starting the  activity we played some games and got tired. then we relaxed for sometime and reflecting back on what all we did in our previous sessions from monday to thursday
  • we went to sunshine area to have snacks
  • children prepared their journal to take it home
  • we went to sand area and played a lot
  • after coming back from sand area we played memory game, fire in the mountain and statue game
  • and we finished our session for the day 

responses of children

  • today children came to the session with full of enthusiasm
  • children were discussing what they did in the session yesterday and what all they did in the home
  • all the children are eager to do meditation. as soon as they hear the song they close their eyes and start doing the meditation
  • Before starting the activity we played some energisers and got tires. then we sat down to relax and slowly i started asking about our previous activities. and they tolds what all they did for the past four days. they told we did coloring, we discussed about web and other insects, we went in search of insects and found some of them, we used magnifying glass to see the insects, we made a web using straws and wool, we prepared journal, and they told that they enjoyed doing all these activities.
  • children got excited when we went to sunshine area for snacks
  • when we went to sand area to play they explored shapes and tried to build towers by mixing water to the sand. all of them enjoyed playing in the sand
  • when we came back we played memory game, fire in the mountain, statue and we ended up our session and waiting for the pickup cards to come.

 


Day 4 - 1 Apr 2010 

What we did

  • today i decorated the class by placing some board games in the room
  • children entered the class with a big smile on their face we did meditation we discussed about yesterday's activity and how they felt.
  • for the first activity i got a board game which was done by the facilitator and play with that board game
  • for the second activity we played the board game which we get it in the market and once we finish children have to make their own board game and play 
  • during snack time children were discussing their favorite fruit juices
  • and in the last we have to decorate journal's front page which they will be taking home on friday
  • after decorating children went down to get some books for reading and after that we winded up the session for the day.
  • today we had painting code

Respons of children

  • children got excited when they saw the board game which i kept it in the room.
  • they came with a big smile on their face.
  • they spoke about yesterday's activity and about the IPL matches which are going on.
  • they wait for the meditation song to come and do the meditation without disturbing others. for the first activity they played the board game which was prepared by the facilitator. they themselves divided into two groups and played.
  • for the second activity first they played the real board game and then they decided to prepare a board game of their own and with their own rules. they played that and enjoyed it very well.
  • during snack time they spoke about their favorite fruit juices.
  • for decorating the journal
  • i game them water colors mirrors and sparkling dust. they got excited after seeing it.
  • so they spread the news paper on the floor and started decorating it. after finishing they kept it for drying. i told them the painting code and they followed it as it is.
  • later all of them went to the library and got some books, read it and left for the day

 


Day 3 - 31 Mar 2010 

What we did

  • today all the children came with a smiley face
  • all the children spoke about their yesterday, what they did, how they enjoyed, and what they did at home
  • later we did meditation
  • for the first activity we have to draw some insects using shapes, color it and stick it to the web which we prepared yesteday
  • after our first activity we went to dana paani area to have our snacks
  • children decides among themselves to play in the daani paani area for some time
  • after play we returned to our classrooms but they donot want to do the activity and all of them decided to play
  • reading time all of us went to library and seleted whichever book they wanted and returned to class for reading
  • after cleaning up we winded up the session for the day

 Responses of children

  • today children entered with a big smile on their face
  • today all the children spoke what they did and how they enjoyed doing activity
  • all the children are waiting to do meditation. when the song comes they close their eyes and start doing meditation
  • for the first activity all of them made small small insects, colored them and stick it to the web. and had taken it home. all of them are very eager to do the activity
  • when we went to dana paani area for snacks they decided among themselves to play hide and seek
  • after playing for sometime we returned to our class. they decided to play the rest of the day. they only came up with their own ideas of playing passing the ball and word game
  • todays code was no put downs
  • once we finished playing we went to library and they themselves selected the books and came back. they exchanged the book among them and finally ended up the session for the day
  • before going they cleaned up the room

 


Day 2 - 30 Mar 2010

what we did

  • i had set the room with pictures of web and some insects and some musical instruments. because today's activity was to go out and find web, spider and other insects in the nature. after coming back to class we have make a web using straws and wool. so this activity comes under visual and kinesthetic
  • for the second activity we have to use music instruments and create our own insect rhymes. this activity comes under musical
  • for the journal we have to draw different kinds of insects
  • today we had stationary code
  • we did meditation
  • during snack time children were discussing about their favorite food
  • we had reading time
  • then later we cleaned up the room and winded up the session for the day
  • i told them we have to wait for our pickup cards to come and who gets the pickup card, only those children are leaving the room and others should wait patiently till their pickup cards come

  • children were excited when they saw the insects and the musical instruments.
  • during meditation time every body did meditation
  • when we went out in search of  webs and insects they became so curious to find out the insects and webs. they went to each and every plant and corner in search of webs and insects. they found butterflies, ants, lady bug and some other insects except spider. when i gave them the magnifying glass to see everyone observed carefully .
  • when we returned to class i gave them some straws and wool to make a spider web. everybody worked hard to make the web. first they find it little difficulty in making but when they tried they succeeded in doing it. everybody enjoyed doing the web.
  • for the second activity we used music to create our own rhymes. some children were singing others were giving background music. they enjoyed doing this musical activity
  • some of them told that music is their favorite
  • while having snacks in between them they has a big discussion about their favorite food
  • everybody enjoyed reading books and some of them told that they had read almost five books
  • for the journal they drew different kinds of insects
  • everybody waited patiently for their pickup cards.

 

 


Day 1 - 29 Mar 2010

What we did

  • I decorated the room with spiderman, web spider and some other insects in the room. Today’s whole theme was about web.
  • It was the 1st day so it took a little time to get adjusted to the environment.
  • I asked everybody for their names
  • We had meditation
  • After meditation we took a tour of geniekids
  • We played games like pairing of the animals. They have to find their matching pair by shouting and walking like animals.
  • First activity was the word web game. I gave them one word and they have to interlink the word and come out with different words
  • During snack time we discussed about fruits and what fruits they like
  • The second activity activity on word web by starting with any rhyme. And changing the situation, and words of the rhymes
  • For the journal I asked them to draw a spider web and a spider. And then coloring it
  • After every thing is done I asked them to put everything back in their respective places.
  • I told them when our pickup card comes only then we will leave and whose pickup card has not yet come we will sit patiently and wait.
  • So we winded up the session.

Response of the children 

  • Even though it was the first day all the children got adjusted to the environment
  • They told their names and  some children asked my name. and they told which  school they are studying.
  • During meditation time they did very well. They closed their eyes, put their hands on their knees, and started doing meditation. I was really surprised to see them doing the meditation.(I actually wanted to tell them a story before meditation because they are new)
  • For the first word web activity the words have poured in from them.
  • For the second activity they changed the rhyming words according to them, and did their own rhymes
  • When I gave them the animal chits  and told to find their matching pair some of them did.
  • When I asked them to draw they drew the web and colored it
  • During snack all of them told about their favorite fruits and why they like that particular fruit. Some told that because of the sweet taste and some told because of the sour taste.
  • So we winded up the session for the day
