Hasya Mela Oct'09

PDF version

Girija Aunty wrote: In Geniekids we are constantly churning to do something new and different for our children. As the time of mela came the entire team were brainstorming as what different we can do this time and thus the seed of HAsya mela was sown. Mails to invite parents and their involvement led to the mela on 10th October'09.

We had different stalls like -

  • Funny Parlour by Expressive Veena and Organised Raji, children could do a complete make up for their parents using all the colourful beads, caps, duppatas etc.
  • Hitting the joker by Helpful Gomathi (mother of Vishrutha) where children can throw sponge on their parents who are protected by a joker mask.
  • HAA hAA hEE by Technical Venu ( father of Anushka M and Annanya M ) where you had songs written and you had to sing the same same song in your own language. Minakshi ( mother of Anoushka P) got different tongue twisters which had to be said rapidly and with a twist of few sounds, you could also make your own picture by mixing up different things.
  •  Hasya Pourri by Sound effects  Shweta ( mother of Shiv and Nikhil) and Involved  Sheeba ( mother of Maria) where we listen to a song and sway to a classical move. Try telling tongue twisters in a fast way.

On the mela day we all were excited and as parents walked in they had to pass through the different hurdles of tyre, cardboard box and when you finished all your hurdles, you had  Jovial Radhika  aunty and Powerful Suchitra aunty waiting to give you newspaper to dress up yourself .

Now if you thought you could just go in you had Calm Joyce aunty standing there with a mic for you to laugh in different ways  to get an entry for the mela. All this with our photographe  Observant Aditi aunty and Anxious  Lalita aunty( mother of Ashrita) capturing all the excitement.

Our new MJ( mela Jockey) Learning Asawari with the help of our old MJ Spontaneous Ratnesh Uncle was adding to the back ground with some famous hit songs and announcements. Our enthusiastic Meera aunty was in full action at her hitting stall which got converted to a face massage parlour with children having  a blast getting wet and throwing sponge on everybody.

A peek in hasya pourri saw our Anxious Anjali waiting for all to gather to start the mix n match dance. Patient PAdma Aunty was waiting for all of them to create their own weird photographs and Twisting Girija Aunty was having fun observing all the lolling tongues saying the different toongue twisters.

We would like to thank all our parents for coming in for the mela. No mela is ever complete without thanking the tremendous support that we get from behind the scene caregivers who are always ready to do everything with a big smile. Thank you helping Laxmi  Aunty, Smiling Jaya Didi, Excited Vara Didi and Organising Hema Didi.

Meera aunty Wrote:

It was a wonderful funfilled entertainment on 10th and I must say the credit goes to the involving parents who came up with quite a few innovative ideas.

Thanks to the colorful makeup artist  Girija aunty who made us look appealing to the audience as jokers in charge. Patient Anjali aunty, Glorious Padma aunty, Graceful Girija Aunty  were all in action in the dancing room along .

We had a mix of dances by the participants which got the adrenaline tickling in excitement for all of us. Some of the elderly audience did show that they could truly entertain us with their participation in all the stalls.  Apologies for not visiting sunshine area stall but got the report from my kids about the stall being challenging for them. Enthusiastic Suchitra and Radhika aunty were in full force in their stall which was the eye catcher at the entrance.

The relaxed Joyce aunty with a tiny paper sticking on her face got us laughing away.  The funny stall dressing had a variety of things which made us innovative in dressing up. Lot of credit goes to Gomathi of the Getting wet stall as she made the cutouts of all the jokers overnight injuring her finger in the process and the children had a ball here inspite of the place being fully wet. We had enthusiastic parents and grandparents who squatted before their tiny tots for getting their face wet.

We enjoyed the live comments of the programme jockey Ratnesh uncle and the timely clicking of photos by Aditi aunty to sum up the events of the fun filled day.

Padma Aunty Wrote:

Hip hip horray to all of you for the great show and Aarohi enjoyed  putting our stall and had a great fun.

We are all ways in the process doing something different and new and this year also after thinking a lot finally we p;planned to conduct Hasya mela. We conducted some meetings which some interesting parents joined and we planned to  put different stalls.

We started the programe by committed faculty team coming and setting the place and dressing up in very funny way by helping each other in creative way.. In the entrance we have smiling Radhika aunty and friendly Suchithra aunty dressing up the people in funny way and our courageous Joyce aunty welcoming the people with a mike to laugh in creative way, organized Anjali and responsible Sweta and helping sheeba making every one move their body to different tunes  along to the tunes and laughing with your heart out.

We had Funny parlour by understanding Veena and Friendly Raji to dress your self with lots of constraints, and finally on the terrace we had  sing the way you want  music game conducted by Technical Venu, and wordy Girija making everyone twist their tongue with tongue twisters and Sharing Padma making every one  to become artist by drawing things in mix and match. and  playful Meera Aunty had a water game parlour for your face.

We had our photographers Organised Aditi Aunty and Imaginative Lalitha Aunty to capture the special movements in their camera, our MJ cordinating Asawri with lots of music and sound along with our Thinking Ratnesh uncle adding fire to the programe with his songs and actions.T

Thank you committed Menakshi Aunty and  Sharing Mini Aunty Auty helped to get pictures and words for the programe

Creative Lakshmi Aunty and helpfu;l Didis for helping the team to  to set the place.
Finally thanks for all and everyone for  making the event in a funny way.

Suchitra Aunty wrote:
I have never laughed so much as i did during Haasya Mela. Definitely a memorable event. Three Cheers for all those who were part of it and made  it happen. i am sure all the parents and kids would have enjoyed a lot. i was sad that i could't visit all the stall and participate but  i was able to catch the enthusiasm form the visitors especially kids.
Thanks  a lot every body for pumping in so much energy in everybody by making them laugh.

Radhika Aunty wrote:  It was  a nice experience to have a new mela in geniekids. We had a good smile for long hours with all parents and kids (specially me had a good head ache after smiling for couple of hours) and we don't get this kind of laughing experience for couple of hours at home continuously.

The main interesting part in mela, even now if i think, i will laugh is that, asking a parent who came for school enquiry has to visit the hurdle stall.
The main sad thing in the mela is that we other stall  faculties should have kept some seperate time to visit all the stalls but  luckily enjoyed the water playing (sponge stall) at the end.

I could not make it to the Haasya mela. So I thought of sending something which everyone can enjoy. Watch the following video (the full film too if possible) for a few moments of laughter.
