The objective of First two weeks at Aarohi was to

We started with Introductory games connecting us to different fruits,played tail tags and land air space game during sunshine time,went to all the stations in geniekids to understand the place, making our ID, exploring colors and painting,reflecting how we explored colours and analyzing how to work with colours,reflecting the whole day and sharing what we liked and what we want  and finally planning a scheduled for tomorrow with the team



Played throw ball, explored sand,read books on sand and created pattern with music

Played touch scenes games,made meditation codes by sharing how to sit for meditation. what is meditation? why we do meditation etc and signed  the codes made by each one of us  as a team, explored clay and read books and finally energizer on different strengths

Played group games like coco and chain catching, asked questions on what is junk which material comes in the category of junk,browsed in the net what is junk material, explored the junk room in geniekids and planned with our team what we want to do by drawing and discussion in the note book and created different things with junk materials,reflected on what they liked on making the things how they can plan differently etc

Our First Project in Aarohi

We startde week 2 with Understanding each other, understanding the place  on what is kept where, how can we become more independent - walking in different forms, characters, while walking we connect to each other through actions,going to kitchen resource area and observing the things that are kept over there and sharing how to take those things when ever needed, making mind map on me or myself.

What all we can do?

This week we decided to do a project on cooking. The various topics for projects were volcano, car making and cooking. In a group we decided we all will do cooking. We decide what all can we cook the various methods that we can use- using gas, ready made things or we buy things and convert them.

Choosing what all we can do?

We made a mind map of me . This we made to become aware of ourselves, our likes and dislikes and an introduction how to make a mind map. Then we made a mind map on what all we can do in Genie kids. We connected to make a mind map of cooking.   All the children were involved in discussing what all we can do which included writing / drawing different  things. Questioning each other and writing the things. From the list the group shortlisted what all they can make.

Groups/ responsibility. Roles

After short listing we made different groups and each one decided which group they wanted to be a part of. Each group was involved in planning,  In the group each member was given a responsibility.

Research/ Find out

The group member the decide how to go ahead with their recipes. Some took help of the net, other from their experience shared it . Consulting each other adding variations to what they knew. Helping writing.

Budgeting

After everything was finalised, the group discussed their  requirements. Were calculating how much ingredients they will need, budgeting  etc. Made an application for a loan and got a loan amount of Rs.600/-

Organising for projects

The group went to the kitchen to find out the necessary cutlery, how many people they will invite, went around asking questions to others. Analysing if we can make for everyone.

Doing

We made a list of things necessary, we got the money and we had decided to take our shopping list. We set up the place with different cutlery and set our stalls. We planned how to go for shopping and set codes for that. We went to fresh and we realised our list was not there. We then said we can remember and we will pick up things. We started picking up things which was too much like 4 kgs of sugar, 10 packets of lime and 2 packets of butter etc, We decided to come back and check our list.  We realised that others would come at 12.00p.m and we said we will do this cooking some other time.

Loan for food

Kids thought they will come to us and get the money - it took them half an hour to convince me and Aruna to give them money for purchasing. They gave us a loan letter with the promise of returning the money withing two months elae they will pay Rs 50 as interest. Some of them were frustrated that why I was not sanctioning the money? Some were just amused with my logic.
The project did not happen - kids did not have enough time to cook but the process and the reflection was learning for them. - Aditi

Shopping

We all were very enthusiastic to go shopping.  When we reached the shop we realized that we forgot our list, but decided that  we can remember and can buy our things. In the shop we were buying all kinds of things and in bulk. After they finished picking up things some of them realised that it is more than we estimated and we need our list. We came back a bit sad, a bit disappointed but with a learning to take our list  with us next time.

What was the chidlrens reaction when cooking got cancelled

  • Aastha said it was ok if we did not do shopping this time, next time we will plan and do things
  • Asawari was disappointed that cooking could not be done she thought we could have come back taken the list and gone back .
  • Anoushka was insistant we should have brought the things even if he did not have the list.
