Masti masti

Submitted by girija on Sun, 8 Mar 2009.
Melaon ka mela Khoj habba was on 7th march. The seeds of creative mela was sowed by our Artistic Aditi, who gave us the idea that we can have a mela where parent and child do something together and both of them enjoy. Responding to our mails our ever enthusiastic parents came forward with different ideas of the stall and we all had a enjoyable time discussing our thoughts and what is our objectives. The parents  were more than willing to support us in this endeavour.  On the mela day Geneikids was buzzing  with  activities with  Creative Minakshi at clay stall from where we saw some cars, Cinderellas, houses, crocodiles etc being churned out,,  Involved  Sarita and  Eager Anita put up lovely beads stall and we colud see most of them busy in their work and happy to put their colourful necklaces and bracelets and walk around, Persevarant Trupti with her white T-shirts changing them into colourful and creative pieces which children remembered to carry back when it had dried giving us a glimpse of Holi in advance,  Organised Anjali with her lovely patterns and colorfull wool,   Patient  Priya with her ulta pulta stall of painting,  Enthusiastic Neeta with her musical painting and glitter,   Involved Vijay with his bowling stall from where we could hear lots of loud screams. No mela is complete without a food stall , yummy sandwiches with yummy yummy jams and colourful chutneys by  Amazing Santrupta and  healthy  bhel by  health conscious Archita and last but not the least thirst quenching lime juice by our own hardworking laxmi aunty.
Star attraction was Basanti who was waiting all decked up for the little ones to come with their parents and enjoy a joy ride.
Would like to thank all the parents for coming for the mela and enjoying with the little genies. Who can forgot our collector Aruna for managing the tokens so well for all of us. Also would like to thank our ever willing Asawari  who wanted to be part of a stall and was busy helping out in the card stall. Thanking you helpful Asawari for being in the stall. Big thanks to our spy cameraman Ratnesh for  clicking all these moments without us realising it.
No mela would be  enjoyable without our enthusiastic Didis who put in a lot of effort to help us organise things. Thank you didis. A word of mention to our Questionning Amsa aunty and Involved Meera aunty who were part of our stalls.

Thank all the parents for the feedback and will keep special note of the ice cream stall.
Girija.

Khoj Habba

Submitted by shivani on Mon, 9 Mar 2009.

Yet another Mela it was, Khoj Habba is what it was called.
The morning began with some pleasant music, some hustle bustle to begin with. All Aunty's setting up their stalls, it was all to begin soon in those halls. Positions were taken, the decor was simple, it was all to do with whatever you wanted to do.
As you entered you encountered Aruna Aunty, with a smile that  she always wears, she greets one and all, accompanied by Joyous Joyce, together they teamed up to settle scores. They helped all those who entered by giving them few coins, so that they could make and take, at the stalls, for all the services- they charged a nominal fee.
As one proceeded upwards, through the stairs of Geniekids, the first stop was at  'Clay.com'  Thoughtful Meenakshi, had surprises for all. Parents and children enjoyed modeling clay into various artifacts and giving them a colorful identity. Once you had you clay full, one could go upwards and proceed to three stalls on the first floor.
On the right was the star attraction for all, the beads stall. Enthusiastic team of Sparkling Saritha and Cheerful Anitha provided an opportunity to the customers to create their own jewellery, people flocked in till everything was sold out !!
All you had to do was turn around and enter the Tee-shirt stall. One could find  little footprints across Trupti Aunty's shirt. Creative Trupti Aunty provided an opportunity to paint white shirts with your hands and create something interesting out of the hand prints, like a peacock, flowers etc. Their was an air of excitement in this stall, where parents were as/even more eager to try out their hands at creating a colorful Tee-shirt.
On your way out of the Tee-shirt stall, one could see a Relaxed Anjali Aunty with her companion Adorable Asawari, holding a huge group of people between them. This was a unique stall, cards were being made by sewing colorful threads into cloth that was cut into different shapes, like flowers, fish etc. One could easily say that the world inside was so involved, they had no idea of what was happening outside.
Alright, after a creative time, if one wanted to have some fun, all you had to do was climb a few stairs and turn to your left. Plenty of sunshine and fresh air would greet you, along with Spiky Pranav and Mighty Dida. A bowling game was fun for all, especially through a cardboard window made by Meera Aunty. Children wanted to play again and again.
If you explored further, at sunshine room there was some painting fun. Enthusiastic Priya had some ulta pulta fun to offer at her painting stall. While Smiling Neeta, offered a glittery musical painting stall.
Meanwhile, one could hear a humdrum of bullock cart ride announcements being made for all to join in. All children came joyfully and enjoyed a merry ride on the cart. Experienced Girija Aunty took charge at the entrance and helped everyone to get a ride.
Mouth watering bhel puri and besan laddoos tasted yummy, thanks to Caring Archita and Chhavi. A choice of colorful jams and chutneys were spread out, you could make the choicest sandwiches and savor the yummy combinations. Thanks to Successful Santrupta and her husband.
Behind every scene was a silent capturer, saving pictures for all, to savor the sweet memories of Khoj Habba.  Committed Ratnesh Uncle, thanks for the slide show with so many lovely pictures in it.

Great Mela

Submitted by aditi on Tue, 10 Mar 2009.

Great Creative mela
Another great Mela at Geniekids after last Saturday's SS mela -  we are getting expert in mela management:). Once again the PERFECT me could not ask for anything more - it was peacefully maintained, arranged and implemented. Great Preparation - the best part was that the team enjoyed the mela completely.

It was great to come to Mela as a mother and go around with Dhrupad and do activities.
Truly appreciate the co-ordination done by Khoj team to train parents in creativity.
Also the support of ALL genie spouse was amazing.
