Observation Station

Observation station is a choice for any child like reading station. So if you are using observation station as time-out "you go to observation station and come back when you are ready" STOP NOW.

PLEASE please please - Observation station is an option for the child not your decision. A child running around the class or hurting

1. First time IGNORE
2. Second time IGNORE
3. Third time - Non verbals - "This hurts"
4. Fourth time - Non verbals - "This hurts"
5. Fifth time - Non approval thru non verbals or one word - "this disturbs" - at this point check your FRAME OF MIND - Are you DISTURBED - if YES then first discipline yourself - RELAX
6. Sixth time - same as 5th.

All this donot do sitting in one place - Get up and GO NEAR to the child.

1. Seventh Time - Move away the child from the Situation.
2. Eighth time - Inform the child and give option- "You look disturbed, would you like to go to observation station, or Rest station. This is not a PUNISHMENT - child will choose to go to observation station not you decide. Please note this point very sincerely. Child will come back when he/ she wants to take part in the activity.

Discipline is all about ME not about the "child is like that".

Observation station is the choice. So use with Caution.
Soon it becomes - time out and finally weapon for the faculty to SEND the child to observation station. ALL the stations are THE OPTIONS for the children.
