Session #10- 6th feb 2010
What we did
We did some exercises like stretching, jumping and relaxing
For the meditation I showed them a picture of an emoticon with eyes closed. Then we did meditation
We played games like pairing of the animals. They have to find their matching pair by shouting and walking like animals.
During snack time I told them a story how different vegetables and fruits help us in giving vitamins minerals which are very helpful in keeping our body in good health
For the first activity we used musical instruments to get ready for the show. And all the children have to decide which instrument they are using and practicing rhythms for the show
For the second activity we discussed about the invitation card how to prepare the card and whom are all coming for the show
We played dumbcharads for the energizer and we all were singing songs with music.
And after that we winded up the session for the day
Responses of children
They enjoyed the exercises like stretching, relaxing and jumping
Meditation everybody did by closing their eyes
When I gave them the animals and told to find their matching pair some of them did and some of them played with the animals
When we were discussing about the importance of vegetables and fruits children started telling that aunty I ate this vegetable that is why I am strong. One more child told that I eat carrots so my eyes are good.
For the first activity we used musical instruments and some katoris and spoons to make a rhythm. First I showed them and then they have to follow it. First it went well later they did whatever they want. They are more interested in doing their own rhythms.
And once the activities are over I asked them to sing rhymes with action. Some children sung rhymes with action and some were using musical instruments
For the second activity I gave them a chart paper they colored it nicely and drew something on that and said that the invitation cards are ready. And they exchanged it with their friends.
After that we winded up the session for the day
What we did
I kept some books in the room
Children eagerly waiting for meditation once they finished meditation they relaxed for some time and took some books for reading
For energizers we played games like bowling, played the game of running and catching and at last we played fire in the mountain as well
For the first activity we were discussing how we want to present the story either by puppetry or by acting. And we were discussing which character they wanted to become.
And at the snacks time they were discussing which vegetable and fruits they like. And I was also telling about the seasonal fruits.
For the second activity we were discussing how to tell the dialogues and which type of dialogues they wanted to deliver
One more energizer we played was the mirror game
Each one sung some rhymes and winded up the session
Responses of children
· Children entered the class with a big smile
· As soon as they entered they asked me why I did not come the previous week
· When I told them I was not well they each one of them started telling their own version
· All the children love to play games and especially they insist me in playing the fire in the mountain at least once
· For the activity they decided on animal and cars story for the show. Some of them wanted to become lion, tiger, rabbit, elephant and rhinoceros. And they chose to act for the show. They all started acting like animals and roaming as if they are in the forest and making animal sounds. Some animals they wanted to use cars as well
· For the second activity they pretend as if they were wandering in the forest as used animal sounds as a medium of language and if they want to cross they used to nod their head right and left. S
· Some children came up with their own dialogues for the show.
· And then we played some games and winded up the session
The session started with shaking hands with each child and asking their name and giving a lovely label to each. they asked for pavithra aunty and then asked me "what is your name?". we started with story books . first with the book in which our face fits in and the surrounding is printed. each of us got a turn for each page of the book. then we read the big books each child was telling a story seeing the picture.
then during snacky , they washed hands all by themselves and unrolled their mats to eat. they were disussing how animals make sounds and which animals are friends in the jungle.
later they rolled the mats back and we started with a story of the jungle. they wanted to go the jungle in different vehicles. we enacted how we can go in train, bus, car, etc., then what all we saw. we were weaving a story. then they wanted to draw it . so each drew their animals and colored them (story board).
What we did
I kept a paper cut out of a puppet in the room
I kept the puppet in my hand and welcomed them
We did meditation
I kept some items in the bag and the kids have take it out closing their eyes and tell the name of that object
For this activity we had chosen two mediums. One is puppetry and the other is acting while narrating the story
During snack time we discussed about their favorite food
We played the game of hopping with one foot. Without putting the leg down they have to make two rounds
For the second activity I gave them some material like icecreamsticks, chart paper, wool, crayons and tape for sticking
During snack time we discussed about their favorite food
After finishing the activity we winded up the session for the day
Responses of children
When children entered they said hello to the puppet
Now children are waiting to do meditation. They enjoy doing meditation
When they took out those objects from the bag all of them are able to identify the object
Each one took the puppet and acted out the story in their own way
During snack time all the children are discussing why they like that type of food
For the second activity all of them really put in their own efforts to make a puppet. They love making puppet. Once they finished they told the story using their puppet
After finishing they cleaned up all the place and kept everything back in their places and left for the day
Session #6 - 9th jan 2010
What we did
· I kept some story books and puppets in the room
· I welcomed them with a puppet in my hand
· I told the kids a small story before meditation
· Played the game of clapping, snapping and tapping
· For the activity I showed them some flash cards to the children to build up a story on their own
· For the second activity I game them some situations to do a story on their own
· During snack time we discussed about colors of vegetables and fruits
· We played the game of passing the parcel
· Last 15 minutes kids played the game of chuk chuk gaadi
· Then we winded up the session for the day
Responses of children
· When the kids entered I greeted them with a puppet in my hand. They got excited and later they took the books and started looking at the books
· When I told them a story before meditation they listened carefully and later they did meditation
· All the kids enjoyed playing the games and some of them come up with their own ideas of playing. And we played those games as well
· When I showed them the flash cards to them each one came up with a different story of their own. They try to explain the stories are amazing
· I gave them the situations like circus, birthday party each one of them came up with a different ideas and opinions
· Everything went well and we winded up the session by playing chuk chuk gaadi
Session #5 - 19th Dec 2009
What we did
· I kept emoticons in the room
· I welcomed them with a big smile
· We did meditation
· Played the game of jumping into circles, squares and triangles.
· I tied one ball and they have to touch with their head without using their hands
· Activity was about emotions. I will be telling a story and they have to put emotions according to the story. (For example in the story if it says happy they have to put a happy face, if it is sad they have to put up a sad face) and later they have to draw different kinds of emotional faces and stick it to the ice-cream stick.
· The second activity is about changing of emotions. Happy to sad. Angry to happy. Wild to quiet. And see what will happen if it changes. And later with the clay they have to make an emotional face.
· Before leaving each one have to put a emotional face and leave
· Cleaning the place before leaving
Responses of children
When children entered the room I greeted them with a big smile.
They got excited when they saw the emoticons. And they started putting the faces to each other.
Every time I put the mats for sitting. This time I did not put. I just put the mat for myself and sat on the mat. Then each child one by one they went and got the mats for themselves and settled down in their seats. And each one started telling that I am sitting on a smiley square shape, I am sitting on a smiley circle shape, and I am sitting on a smiley square shape. Today what I noticed was everybody was happy and expressed nicely their opinions.
Meditation went well
For the first activity when I was narrating the story they listened carefully and acting out all the emotions. And they were asking questions regarding the story. Later they drew the faces on a chart paper and glued to the ice-cream stick.
For the second activity when I asked them what will happen suddenly when a happy smiling person becomes sad. And an active person becomes quiet. They changed their facial expressions from happy to sad and said it will look like this. And later I gave them clay, dals, pulses and some straws. They only came up with their own idea of doing a smiley face.
After finishing their activity they cleaned all the place, put the papers in the dustbin and before leaving they wished me happy holidays and merry christamas.
Session # 4 - 12th Dec 2009
What we did
- I kept some animal pictures in the room
- I greeted them with animal sounds
- We did meditation
- During snack time we discussed about their favorite foods
- For energizers we played bowling and throwing the ball in the basket. Everybody gets three chances and strictly no putdowns.
- For the first activity we did GV of the jungle and after that children have to make a set of the jungle.
- And for the second activity we had music and rhythms with instruments and after that children have to do their own rhythms whatever they want using their own songs or rhymes
- And in the end children have to sing a song or a rhyme with actions
- After finishing everything they have to clean up the place before leaving
Response of children
- When children entered the room I greeted them with animal sounds. This excited them very much and some children greeted me back with the same sounds and some entered with a smile on their face
- When I asked them how we should do meditation (why I asked this because some children are shouting during meditation) some children showed me how we sit and close our eyes during meditation.
- They liked the game bowling and everyone eagerly waited for their turn to hit the blocks.
- For the activity they lied down on the ground and listened to the story about the lion and the cow. And how the cow escaped from the lion and went and hid herself in the cave. After the story I asked them to make a cave and a jungle. So I gave them chairs, dupattas, newspapers, leaves, straws and animals. They took chairs and covered them with dupattas and put some leaves and straws on that and arranged all the animals around the cave. Again they took one more chair and covered with newspapers and put some leaves and straws on it. And they shifted all the animals from that cave to this cave.

Session # 3 - 5th Dec 2009
What we did
- I kept a puppet in the room
- I kept it to my hands and welcomed them
- We did some stretching exercises
- We did meditation
- Played the game of simon says
- Code is we will not disturb others while doing meditation and we will put back all the stationary once we finish our activity
- During snack time we discussed about vegetables and their importance
- We played dumbcharads
- The first activity is about nemo the fish. What it did and they have to tell how it escaped from the other big fishes
- How it did friends and where it went in search of food
- The stimulation is about the aquariums
- And then they have to draw the fish and color it
- For the second activity I kept the puppet to my hands and went to each one of them and asked about their favorite character which made them laugh. Cry and happy
- Once they tell about their favorite character they have to do it in clay and tell the story about their character.
Response of children
· When I kept the puppet to my hands they laughed and said hi
· They like to do stretching exercises
· Meditation went well. All of them enjoy doing meditation
· Children enjoyed playing the simon says game
· We played that game twice because they liked it a lot
· During the discussion in snack time all of them told about their favorite vegetables
· When we played the game of dumbcharads they did acting of animals and snakes, birds.
· During activity time they told where they saw the aquariums and with whom they went and how many fishes they saw and what colors are there and how many varieties are there
· They told how nemo escaped from the big fishes and went under a rock to hide, about its friends and where all they go to find their food
· Once they told they drew the fish and colored it
· For the second activity when I used the puppet for asking they told tom and jerry, Mr Bean, dora and power rangers.
· When they did with clay they did chapattis, snake, house, and a loin
· Somebody told that the lion is going to come and eat all those chapattis, somebody said that my snake goes like this, and somebody said in that clay house me papa and mamma lives
· All the children enjoyed doing these activities
Session # 2 - 28th Nov 2009
What we did
- We did some exercises like stretching, jumping and relaxing
- For the meditation I showed them a picture of an emoticon with eyes closed. Then we did meditation
- We played some games like passing the parcel, I kept some colors in a box and they have to take those colors and whoever gets the color red they have to do squats, blue twist their waist, green hop, yellow turn around. We had a statue game
- I kept some emoticons in a basket and all of them have to take one each and show the feelings
- For the activity I asked them how a market looks, and type of things you find in a market.
- I gave them some pictures what are there in the market and what are not there in the market
- Stationary code is we should keep back the stationary once we finish our activity
- During snack time we discussed about fruits and their taste, color and texture
- And the second activity is to enact situation like doctor becomes a cook, milkman becomes teacher, police becomes a thief and the thief becomes a police.
Response of children
- They enjoyed the exercises like stretching, relaxing and jumping
- Meditation everybody did by closing their eyes
- When we played the passing the parcel each one sang their favorite song, rhyme
- When we did the activity each one told what all they can find in a busy market place. Some told we find cars, buses, cycles, autos on the road. Some told they find toys, clothes. Some told flowers. Some of them told vegetables.
- So when I gave the pictures so they selected what all they find in a busy market place and glued it to the chart paper
- And they only came up with an idea of coloring what all they glued.
- We played a game of jumping in and out of the circle. And strictly no put downs.
- For the second activity we have to enact what will happen when you see a doctor instead of seeing a patient he will be cooking in a kitchen. Everybody laughed and told it look so funny. And suddenly you see a thief chasing a police and the police is running far from the thief. So some of them became thieves and some of them became police and started chasing police. They enjoyed playing this activity. In the end they made aunty a thief and all of them became police and started chasing aunty.
- After finishing we kept all the material back in their places. And cleaned the place
Session # 1 - 21st Nov 2009
what we did:
* It was the 1st day so it took a little time to get adjusted to the environment.
* I asked everybody for their names
* We had meditation
* We did the activity regarding birthday. We discussed about birthday party what we do how we celebrate, when you cut the cake who sings the song
* I gave them some chart papers and crayons and asked them to draw about the activity we did.
* We played games like pairing of the animals. They have to find their matching pair by shouting and walking like animals.
* During snack time I told them a story how different animals find their food and eat.
* Then we played some games like fire in the mountain run, run, run (they have to run to their favorite place in the room. In the room I kept the pictures of zoo,picnic,beach, circus, museum, park and playground)
* For the 2nd activity I told them a story about an ant how it has to find its way by going in different ways to find its food till it reaches its goal.
* On a paper I gave them a maze they have to help the rabbit to find the way to reach its food.
* After every thing is done I asked them to put everything back in their respective places.
* I gave everybody a fish that they are responsible genies
* I told them when our pickup card comes only then we will leave and whose pickup card has not yet come we will sit patiently and wait.
* So we winded up the session.
Response of children:
* Even though it was the first day all the children got adjusted to the environment
* They told their names and some children asked my name
* During meditation time they did very well. They closed their eyes, put their hands on their knees, and started doing meditation. I was really surprised to see them doing the meditation.(I actually wanted to tell them a story before meditation because they are new. They didn’t give me that chance to tell)
* When I started to tell about the birthday every body started telling in their own way. They responded very well.
* When I gave them the animals and told to find their matching pair some of them did and some of them played with the animals.
* When I asked them to draw about the activity each one drew something and gave their own names to what they have drawn
* During snack time when I told the story they listened with so much of interest and they put some questions
* When we played the game fire in the mountain they run to their favorite places and say aunty this is my favorite place and asked me what is my favorite place so I used to run to my favorite place and tell them this my favorite place.
* When I told the story of an ant how it went in different routes in search of food and finally it reached its destination they all listened and when I gave them maze they did it.
* When we finished all our activities they kept all the stationary back in their places
* So I gave everybody a reward written on a ice cream stick telling responsible
* When some children left others waited patiently till their pickup cards come
