Multiple Intelligence Camp - 3-4 years group - Rachana aunty
Week 1: 21st to 25th Dec
- Room was decorated with musical instruments and pictures of different musical notes.
- All the children were greeted differently as they entered the class room i.e., with musical instruments.
- The children were asking to pick up musical instruments which were kept in the basket and were also ask to explore all the musical instruments.
- They were shown pictures of different characters in different poses and they were asked enact like these pictures making sounds appropriate to pictures given to them.
- All the children were taken to sand area and they were all told to make shapes of santa claus along with gifts, chocolates, toys etc.
- Children were asking to dance without any music being played then they were asked to dance to different types of music.
- Children were asking to prepare Christmas greeting cards for their friends no clues for given them.
Response of children
- Children were very much surprised when they were greeted with differently there mood suddenly changed when they entered the class room.
- The explored all the music instruments with great enjoyment. They were little upset when they were asking to stop that activity and move on to the next one.
- In the sand area after completing the activity the children went on offering chocolates and gifts to each other.
- They ask lot of questions while preparing the greeting card showing lot of involvement.
- They were not very comfortable when they were asking to dance without any music. However, they enjoyed a dancing to different types of music later.
Day 4 - 24 Dec 2009
What we did :
I decorated the class room with the picture of a clock and a poster with small pictures depicting the daily activities which we do right from the morning till evening such as brushing teeth, eating breakfast, going to school etc. I indicated the time against each of this picture.
We greeted each other at the start of the class.
We started the activity with singing number rhymes.
I ask each and every child the following questions? 1) What time do they get up from the bed 2) How do the greet their parents 3) What activities they do after getting up 4) What do they like to eat for breakfast 4) What time do they go to school and How do they go to school 5) What games do they play after coming back from the school 6) What time do they have diner and go to bed.
I had given them pictures of clock with small pictures of activities pasted at different times of the day wrongly. I ask them to tell whether the activities and the time are matching with one another or not. The children were very clever to identify that the activities are not matching the time of day and started laughing.
I told them a story about a girl who liked only chocolate and never used to eat normal food. I told the children to prepare a magic food mat looking at which the girl well eat normal food. I made them to prepare magic mat with pictures of tree, cloud, bird, sun, house etc. And color them with abnormal colors.
Response of child
The children sang the rhymes with lot of enthusiasm.
The children answered all the questions which were asked to them. They are aware of brand names of tooth paste, soap, names of cars which they travel etc. They are also aware of the time of the day at which activities are performed / done.
While preparing the food mat they told each other that they also like to only chocolates and junk foods then normal food they did enjoyed the activity very much and they will use the food mats on the dining table.
Day 3 - 23 Dec 2009
What we did :
I decorated the room with items related to summer, winter and rain seasons (Rainy season– umbrella, pictures of rainy seasons: Summer season- pictures of smiling sun, dark glass and cap : Winter season – sweater, dry leaves, picture of snow man)
I greeted the children wearing snow man mask and reciprocate with lot of joy.
We started the day’s activities with physical excises such as jumping, stretching, and kneeling.
Then I started the guide visualization activity guiding them to visualize that they are water bottles which are carried by children to the schools in their schools bags. I told them to visualize them as water bottles of different sizes and different colors.
I gave them different objects such as plastic cups, ice-cream sticks wool and paper roll and I ask them to make a laughing cup using this.
I took them to sand area and made them collect dry leaves and twig then I told them to paste these on chart show as to make it look like greeting card.
Response of children:
We had an interactive session person to know each other are which seasons they like most and why?
Each child came up with different seasons and they gave convening answers why they like those seasons.
During GV activity, the children instead of visualization themselves as water bottles, they picked up there water bottles which they have brought and started showing them to each other.
Two children did not participate properly in sand area activity and they did not follow instruction given to them because of which they didn’t complete them greeting card activity. Other children they enjoyed outdoor activity.
Day 2 - 22 Dec 2009
What we did :
I decorated the class room with stars, diyas, pictures of cake and festivals, puppet.
I wished them as they entered the class room and T asked them reciprocates in the same way.
I started the activity for the day by ‘pick and act’ activity. I had made few cards with different types of emotion feeling written on each card and put them in a basket. I made each one of them pick one card and express the feeling written on the card.
Then for about 10 minutes I made them sit and meditate.
I ask the children what is so special about the day. Looking at the decoration items in the class room each child came up with different answer such as Birthday, Diwali festival and Dasara, but I made the puppet to say NO for all their answers and made them to guess what kind of celebration puppet won’t to have.
I paused for a while then, played rain sound music. The children recognize the sound of rain and said puppet wants to celebrate rain day. All of us started exploring rainy day. I explained to the children how to produce sound using our finger, feet and also using rain stick. After a while I played laughter music and many children didn’t like it. I made them sing rain songs.
I made them play Fire on the mountain run, run and every time they stood still I asked each child to make show how different animals laugh.
I gave them cut out of T-shirt and ask them to paste smiling face with mouth wide open showing big size teeth. Then I made them paste small pictures of different type on the teeth and I ask them to color them. After this activity children started laughing looking at each other’s creativity.
Response of children:
The children greeted me and also each other as they quite well as the entered the class room.
The children were enthusiastic to tell each other about their birth day celebrations and Diwali celebrations.
The children were aware of problems that they have to face when they get drenched in the rain.
The enjoyed a lot when they were sticking different figures on the teeth and coloring them.
Children know many rain songs and they can easily differentiate good songs and bad songs.
Day 1 - 21 Dec 2009
What we did :
- I decorated the room with cut outs of vegetables.
- When they came I greeted them by saying Hi and I ask them to tell their names. I introduce myself to all of them.
- I started the day’s activities by asking them to Hop (stretching left hand forward and right leg in back position going near the board and introduce themselves again names.
- After this, I ask them to sit and meditate for about 10 min.
- Then I conducted tour of genie kids. I took them around and showed them kitchen, computer room library, dana pane and sand area.
- We played passing the ball with music, when the music stops, they have to tell which is their favorites vegetables.
- Story telling.
- While having Snack I interacted with them and made them say which vegetable they like? And which they don’t. We also learnt about biggest vegetable, smallest vegetable, colors of the vegetable etc.
- I gave them Plain chart paper and ask them to draw vegetables of their choice and color them.
- I gave them clay and told them to make shapes of vegetables using clay.
Response of children.
The children shows lot of interest in all the activates and they are coming forward actively participate in these activities.
They were very free with each other and also with me and have lot of fun and enjoyed through out session.
They are enjoyed coloring on the chart paper, but some children are not interested to draw vegetable they drew something else.
Clay activity. Few children didn’t make shapes of vegetables and instead they made shapes of camera, burger, car, sweets, chapattietc. One child wanted to exchange her clay model with the one what I have made. When I said, the child become upset and absued me saying that I am very bad she won’t come to genie kids from next day.
I did enjoy the session with children.
