Week 2: 28th Dec09 to 1st Jan 2010
Day 5 - 1st Jan 2010
Class room was decorated with New Year greeting cards.
The children wished me and each other “Happy New Year”
The day’s activity was started Simon’s game.
Children were made to sit in a circle and were asked to tell about what they did yesterday night.
Chart paper was given to children they were told to prepare New Year greeting cards for their friends.
Children were asking to tell about which activity they liked during the past one week. They were also asked say few words about their friends and their behavior.
Response of child
Children were aware that today is the beginning of the New Year.
Few children narrated quite nicely. How they celebrated New Year eve.
Some of the children wanted to prepare greeting cards for their parents also, all the children enjoyed the coloring activity.
They told very few things about other children.
Day 4 - 31 Dec 2009
- Room was decorated with pictures of park, resort, swimming etc.
- As and when children came they were greeted into the class room.
- The day’s activities were started with physical excise such as twisting of wrists, ankles, trunk, neck etc.
- Children were divided into small groups of two in each group. They were asked to exchange their views about the picnic spots they visited recently. Then all the children were made to sit in a circle and also discus about their experiences, likings and disliking about the picnic spot.
- Children were given pictures of people enjoying in picnic and they were asked to color them.
- Children were taken to sand area and were allowed to play for about half an hour.
- After this, they started clay modeling activities. Children were asked to prepare do clay modeling of picnic activities.
Response of children
- The children express while doing physical excise that they do such excise in there play home/schools also.
- Some children express that they never went a picnic with their parents or friends.
- In the interactive session children were not attentive to the views express by other children.
- All the children were enjoyed the coloring activity.
- The children were enjoyed playing in the sand area by making shapes of house, volcano, park etc.
Day 3 - 30 Dec 2009
- Room was decorated with funny pictures and paper masks.
- The children were greeted into the class room and asked to settle down.
- The days activities were started with Morning Prayer children were asked to recite there school prayers one after the other.
- The children were made to sit in a circle and they were asking to make funny faces and tell their friends and which character there like.
- Each child was given a paper mask and was asked to color it and also decorated using color ribbons, color paper and straw.
- Children were given paper mask of different animals and vegetables they were asked to color them using appropriate colors and children were asked to wear the mask and say few words and appropriate to what they were wearing.
Response of children
- Children were found to be very active as they entered the class room.
- It appeared that everybody wanted to enjoys there stay in genie kids.
- Some children sang national anthem and some sang some Sanskrit slokas.
- One child made very funny face and all other children copied the same and they didn’t know how to make different looking funny faces.
- They enjoyed the coloring activity a lot. Every child wanted to wear mask of all types and they showed lot of interest and said many things about the mask that they were wearing.
Day 2 - 29 Dec 2009
What we did?
- Room was decorated with pictures of different seasons and nature.
- Children were ask to play games which they were knew forming groups and others were told to learn those games.
- There was a question answer session and children were made to answer few questions such as which seasons they like why they will like to do etc.
- Children were given pictures such as pictures of sun, moon, cloud, thunder, rain, flowerer etc. And each child was asked to describe the picture that they had got to other children.
- Children were given to outline of rainbow and they were asked to color it and they all sang rainbow song.
- Children were asked to tell about their family and what they would like to become when they grow up. They were also asked to select those pictures of occupations and paste them on their rainbow sheet.
Response of children
- The children were very joys mood as they entered the class room and they greeted me and also each others.
- The children could explain the games what they knew to other children.
- The children know how to protect him during winter, summer, and rain seasons.
- Children were confused about the order in which they have to color in rainbow.
- Many children are not aware of the official designation of their father /mother.
Day 1 - 28 Dec 2009
What we did?
- Room was decorated with musical instruments, different puzzles, books and fresh flowers.
- The children were greeted warmly and taken inside the class room.
- The day’s activity is started with warm up physical excises.
- All the children had come inside the class room by this time and they were asked introduce him to others.
- The children were taught basics of meditation and were made to sit and meditate for few minutes.
- Children were taken to a tour of genie kids and they were explained different activities which take place in different room.
- The children were asked about their liking and disliking and the children came out with not just one but many things which they like and dislike.
- Children were asked to pick up one of the item which they liked from the items which were kept in the class room and they were asked to say few lines about the item which they picked.
- Two children were given one chart paper and one set of crayons. They were observed how they will share one set of item given to them and work together has team.
- Children were shown and explained how to play hopscotch then they were made to play hopscotch game for few minutes they were given chart paper with hopscotch layout drawn on it and were asked to color each squares using different colors.
Response of children
- Some of the children had stranger anxiety on their faces when they were walk in to the class room and took some time settle down.
- Children found it difficult to sit quietly and meditate and few of them were eager to know what others are doing.
- The enjoyed the tour of genie kids and they had few questions to ask about the facilities in genie kids.
- The children explained why they like they a particular item which they had picked up.
- Some children were reluctant to share the items with others and insisted that they want to work alone not has a team.
- Some children enjoyed playing hopscotch game where as others didn’t have they couldn’t hop from one square to another. They all took part in the coloring activity.
