Hello hello dear Mummys and Daddys! Did you get to hear what's coming up at Geniekids?
Oh! we are all excited about our plans of celebrations at Geniekids through Mela. The success of our previous years Mela has encouraged us to do more Melas at GK.

What is a Mela? - not that we Indians need a definition - but the core idea is to get together and participate together.
We plan to have three Mela in the whole academic year - a Shaadi Mela - for the first quarter (Sep), a Story Mela (Dec) and a Khoj habba - to wind up the academic year (march).

Why Mela?
~ To involve Parents in their child's school activities in a participative way.
~ To give a rich and unique experience and exposure to children.
~ To foster multi cultural interactions - through sharing, doing, expressing, and mixing.

What is Shaadi Mela all about?
This Mela is aimed at getting to know different types of Marriages and their associated cultures. We plan to create a memorable experience of all the fun associated with a wedding, to mention a few - music, dance, masti (games), delicious food, wedding nostalgia(come in your wedding dress), and more! An opportunity to join hands with other parents and plan a wedding!

When and where is the Shaadi Mela happening?
Date: 20th Sep 2008 (Saturday)
Time: 3.00 to 6.00pm,
Venue: GenieKids

How can Children Enjoy?
Apart from observing and interacting - through simple activities like dressing up, games and food etc..

How can - I as parent - participate in the Shaadi Mela?
- Choose what kind of Shaadi you want to set up- Marathi, Punjabi, Kannada, Malayali, Gujarati etc.

Together parents can team up to set up the shaadi room with simple materials like dupattas, plastic sheets, newspapers, magazine and color papers, could use dolls for bride and bridegroom, empty cartons for mantap, toys, resources can be issued from Geniekids.You could also choose any stall that you would like to set up like Mehendi, paper jewellery, food etc.
All the above can be discussed in detail during our meeting.
The meeting for Shaadi mela is on Thursday- 4-9-2008, at 1.00 p.m, at Geniekids.

How can I volunteer for the Shaadi Mela?
You could be incharge of-Music, video, tokens, games, decoration, feedback etc. (We will give you the details at the meeting).
