tool- Independence Galaxy

  • 3-13yrs

INDEPENDENCE GALAXY

Why this tool (objective)

The tool is to make the child an independent thinker, to decide and act independently. The session is based on making the child aware of the concept of Independence which can be expressed in relation to self and towards others.

What is the tool? (Description)
The tool is called an Independence Galaxy, on which the child creates his own Galaxy of stars. As he shows independence in his actions related to different walks of life, the child can collect as many stars in the orbits of specific areas namely Thinking, Caring My Belongings, Interaction with others, Environment , Food , Shopping , Study time , Self , Play time.

How to make it? (Instruction to make it)
Use the tool already provided or make a chart with your own orbits of specific areas, where you need your child to be independent.

How to use it (usage)
Same as in the description, use the tool. For example the child can add a star on the orbit of the “SELF” area if he decides his chores where he can show independence like Ironing his clothes, and a star on the orbit of “SHOPPING’ if he is able to go for a shopping or to the market independently etc.

How is it supposed to help? What to look for?(concept)

The tool essentially points out to the child how all in different ways he is being Independent. The tool also makes the child pick a specific area where one can be independent and in course of time find more and more areas to be independent.

Supporting notes for parents (Dos and Don’ts)

The child can decide his area where he could be independent so that he enjoys the process and have a pride of independence. Add more areas of the child’s choice and let him deal with others and try to solve his problem independently.
