What After TTT?

PDF version

If you love children, have you wondered, that not only you can learn about them and make a difference in your child's life - but you can also work with other children. Working with children is fun, rewarding and most importantly flexible (part time to full time).

Options for you after you do TTT/ OTT

  1. Be part of GeniekIds team - see details (working with us)
  2. Start your own center in Bangalore or other city. You can start programs for a small group of children from your home (or tie up with a school near by)
  3. Start your Pre-scool in Bangalore or other city -  see details
  4. You are equipped to work at any other school as a teacher or with any other child development center.
  5. You can contribute to any children's NGO's efforts part or full time.

And even if you do not end up working with children, your children get direct benefit of your going through an intensive training program.

As Manjula, a participant from Chinnai puts it - "Empowering ... Enriching ... Enabling ... Eye-opener :-) Wish all children were lucky enough to have a parent who learnt through this course! "

Renumeration in the field of Teaching

Some schools like the international schools are supposed to have better remuneration packages. The packages in schools vary from 5K per month to 20K. The positive being that you get lots of and long holidays :-)))

Obviously if you run a school or a center of your own - then earning possibility increases and is then totally dependent on your financial goals.

However working in children in general gives more Flexibility and can be made into a job which is part time in nature - a lot of work with children can be tailored around your other family commitments - ideal for non working mothers - who want to be available to their children, yet do meaningful work.

As Asha Sharma, Teacher at Sishugriha, Bangalore says - I have gained a lot from the TTT session ( probably the first batch? ). I try to use as much as possible during my interaction with both children and adults. As an outcome of what I learnt I decided to take part in a teachers and principals seminar organised by India International school on 6th September ( teachers Day )at which I presented a paper  titled " Motivationg the reluctant Learner ". Much of what is in the paper I attribute to my learning at Geniekids.

after having had a great time at Khoj in Genie kids as a facilitator, i joined Daily Dump as a research volunteer. My journey has been really fascinating. I am currently working on a project about dry recyclable waste. In feb this year, our apartment started composting all our organic waste and till now our apartment of 12 flats has managed to compost 3000 kgs of organic waste into three batches of rich compost. We have harvested a good yield of roses and spinach using this rich manure in the garden.
Wroking with waste has helped me break my beliefs about many things. It has also given me opportunities to do some really different things which i had never done before. I am extremely happy to be working on waste matters and I feel it gives me a chance to be the difference I want to see around me. It has to indeed begin with me...
For details about what is composting, please visit the website www.dailydump.org

Harini, congrats. I read one of your articles just the day before yesterday and found it very interesting.
thanks and regards,

For last one year I am taking training on how to enjoy life. This time my trainers are the little tiny tots ( 2 to 3 years old). I am enjoying my work oops my training. There is so much to learn from them.
Two days ago a kid asked me "aunty why do we say merry christmas and not happy christmas? " I kept quiet. Can anyone help.

I am starting "Foundation School" Play-home + Montessori + Day-care in Mallesh Pallaya (Mallesh Pallaya is located near C.V.Raman Nagar and more specifically it is located between BEML gate and the Tata Sherwood Apartments).

A little something about me:  My name is Bithi Agrawal.  A graduate of IIT-Kharagpur, I have worked in various capacities as Project / Product Manager, E-learning professional, etc for the past 17 years with breaks in between to look after my two daughters.  I am passionate about children's education and the Foundation School is the first baby-step towards that direction.  I had attended Geniekids "Train the Trainer Program" nearly three years back and since then have been a changed parent.

Hi Bithi,
My nama is Nayana and some how, your name sounds familiar to me. My daughter Ria, was in NPS Koramangala, doing Mont. School, from 2004 to 2007. I think I know you with that reference. Please let me know if I am mistaken....
I happened to surf on the Geniekids website and was reading the section...what after TTT? as I have joined the 16th batch of TTT and the question on top of my mind is what will I do after this course is over...
Please dont mind, if you are not the same Bithi that I knew..
Thanks anyways..

From Radha

Submitted by aditi on Tue, 9 Feb 2010.

i have joined back the school i was previously working in before i came to b'lore. though now, i am working part time-that's for four hours and gives me a lot of breathing space.

some basic things i learnt at geniekids i am trying to apply there and the effects of which i would soon see. in a class of 35....where corporal punishment can take me to prison....life is not that easy but, some techniques, some tactics i am using to CONNECT to my kids.

respecting kids--empathy--accepting their needs--helping them think.....expressing wut i feel....all these i am applying. thanks to GK and the experiences we have shared.

also another difference i now find is that i'm more conscious about focussing and catering to each child in his/her own way. the understanding that each child is doing his best, builds more faith in me and motivates me to FACILITATE them.

also in this second innings i'm teaching two new subjects-math for class 4 n business studies for class 10.....new areas of work and i'm really xcited.

my son, keerthan is also doing good. he looks forward to being with me and converting every experience into a learning opportunity --is wut i'm focussing at. he has startted blabbering sentences which is very encouraging, but still there is a constant struggle inside of how much faith i shud hav in wut we can do together....neverthless, we are surely moving forward.

that's it for now.
