What child brings

PDF version

Each child brings daily, in a comfortable shoulder bag, snacks, water bottle, napkin and change of clothes.

The Bag
Kindly buy a SHOULDER bag with two separate pockets - one for snacks and one for spare clothes and with an external pouch for keeping the water bottle. It is important that the child is able carry the bag on shoulders - so that both hands are free to climb stairs.

Snacks

  • The Tiffin box should be such that child can open the same himself / herself.
  • Involve the child in packing the snack box. Add variety in the snacks box.
  • Even if the child is not eating and bring the snack back to home - please send the snacks.
  • Please keep the right amount of snacks. If you want to give extra – put in two boxes – so that the child is not overwhelmed by seeing the quantity in one box. Also, if you have kept more – Pl do not insist on your child to eat everything.
  • We request you to send VEGETARIAN food ONLY (avoid egg, chicken, fish etc.). Since all children may not eat non-veg food, all bringing vegetarian food ensures sharing of snacks amongst children.
  • Pl avoid food items which FLOW (are liquid in nature).
  • Encourage fresh food items like fruits, salad vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, boiled corn or sweet potato etc) and wholesome snacks like idlies, dosas, rice, paronthas or any other home cooked snack. Please innovate. Look for children recipes!
  • Any new dish – try at home to get the child used to it and like it - before sending to school.
  • If a child spills or forgets snacks - we keep a backup of biscuits.
  • There is a clean and dry napkin daily in the bag - specially for use during snack time.

Water Bottle

  • The water bottle should be such that child can open by self and drink from the bottle directly.
  • Water is NOT shared amongst children. If a child spills or forgets water bottle - we have filtered water as backup.
  • Water bottle should be kept in an outside pocket of the bag to ensure leaking and spills do not spoil other stuff in the bag.

Clothesand Footwear

  1. The Child wears daily-wear clothes and not anything expensive/ new. Since we allow children to *play* with paints, clay etc – the clothes may get soiled.
  2. Child brings one or two sets of change clothes. (for all 2 to 5yrs)
  3. Ensure child wears shoes / sandals which the child can independently and easily open by herself or himself.
  4. Ensure whatever the child brings to geniekids is tagged with child's name for identification - preferably using a permanent marker.
  5. For security and safety reasons please AVOID any gold / diamond jewellery for your child. Do not make your child wear hanging ear rings, finger rings, neck chain etc.
  6. The footwear should be such that the child him/herself can take them off and put them on – alteast for all 3+ children. The idea is to encourage independence.

Notes

  • Children do not carry any toys or any stationary or any other material except the above. All material and resources required will be provided by us).
  • The children may carry on specific days their library book, fun work book and show and tell object.
  • Ensure whatever the child brings to geniekids is tagged with child's name for identification - preferably using a permanent marker.
