Year 2005 - Dussera

GenieKids, a unique concept in effective child-development through programs and workshops for children, was inaugurated today. Genie Kids is totally child-centered, offering a variety of activities depending upon the child's own interest, motivation to do and learn. The programs offer choice of activities, and flexibility of time and companionship.

1. Rang Birangee (3 and 4 year olds & 5 and 6 year olds): Enjoy the colurs of life while playing, doing and creating. Discovers talents through a WIDE VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES - new games, creates things with lots of music, color, clay, dance, drama, words, numbers, social interaction etc. While a child does all this the child learns to work in groups, inculcates productive habits of mind and gets exposed to a myriad of thinking skills. Sensitively designed activities develop a more open, more 'able' brain. Also develops self confidence and high self image through successful experiences.

2. Holiday Express (6 and 7 year olds & 8 to 13 year olds): Activities under this theme are designed to stimulate the joy of discovering our country, its wonderful places, its natural beauty, etc. An overall "Journey motif" will be maintained with emphasis on movement, exploring and observing places, recording experiences, putting the self against unprepared situations, quick calculations, exploring the rich tapestry of art and craft, the less explored cultures of India ...... All through a myriad of activities. While a child does all this the child learns to work in groups, inculcates productive habits of mind and gets exposed to a myriad of thinking skills.

3. Creative Khoj (6 to 13 year olds): Develop ARTISTIC TALENT AND CREATIVITY through stimulating, challenging and experiential workshop. Explore civilizations, their cultures and medium of expression. Also learn to express and give meaning to art. Create own compositions using drawing, painting, Papier mache, Clay, Puppetry, Model making, Murals and other mediums.

4. Accelerated Learning Techniques (10 to 15 yrs): Study Skills that make you a master student. These techniques and tools help you take best out of yourself, your books, your classes and exams. Increased understanding, increased retention, quicker reading and school work, better thinking, writing and expression.

2005 Summer Program

This summer to provide a platform for wholesome development with lots of excitement and enjoyment.

Discover Me (4 -6 yrs,7-9 yrs, 10 -12 yrs)

Fun Activities, group work, extremely stimulating environment and exclusive real world experiences that give the child taste of SUCCESS SKILLS. Activities are based on 8 intelligences - hence child gets exposure to a very wide range of activities: From music to language, numbers, art , craft, clay , drama , puppetry, interpersonal skills, science and to everyday experiential learning, etc. Each one of us have our unique strengths and ways in which we're intelligent. Now initiate the journey to discover your strong intelligences - each week.

Each week - Monday to Friday; 10am to 1pm;
Fees Rs 600 per week - Minimum three weeks.

Creative Khoj (6- 13yrs)

Develop artistic talent and creativity through stimulating, challenging and experiential workshop. Explore countries, their cultures and medium of expression. Also learn to express and give meaning to art. Create own compositions using Papier mache, Clay, Puppetry, Model making, Murals, Painting and other mediums.

Each week - Monday to Friday; 2:30am to 5pm;
Fees Rs 600 per week - Minimum three weeks.

Fun Tales (3 to 5 yrs)

Harness their eagerness to draw - to create - to make. Simultaneously develop skills to explore and express. Storytelling, story weaving, and story magic - Action, Music, drama, puppets, clay and pictures - stories were never so much fun - as you develop an extra love for books, learning and public speaking.

Each week - Monday to Friday; 10:30am to 1pm;
Fees Rs 600 per week - Minimum three weeks.

Theatre Magic

Duration: three weeks (Monday to Friday) - fifteen days + one day of performance.
Dates: May 9 to May 27 (Plus show on Saturday 28th May) 2005.
Timings: 2:30 to 5pm (two and half hours).
Age group: 10 yrs to 16 yrs (children going to 5th standard upwards) Group size: 10 (min) to 20 (Max).

A three week workshop on theater for 10-16 year olds

Introduce your children to the world of theatre with a THREE-WEEK workshop designed to boost their confidence and promote creativity. Children will also learn creative games that develop imagination, self-esteem, communication, and improvisation skills. The first TWO WEEKS the participants will spend time dramatizing stories, taking movement classes, acting, vocal work and more are all through games and activities! Participants start using improvisation, creating situations and scripted material, develop characterization, mime, utilizing stage areas and props and do this mostly through theatre games. Their skills begin to include thinking on their feet, focus, correct vocal production and articulation. They will learn performance skills ranging from improvisation to music and scene work.

In the FINAL WEEK the young thespians will put up a special performance for family and friends (stage production). For this the students will experience ONE WEEK of excitement, hard work, and fun as they prepare a complete play back show using costumes, props, music and loads of creativity and energy.

Puppetry Genie Treasure (geniekids interactive library)

Presents a Workshop on Puppetry for children 5-10 years to explore books, stories, expression and puppets. Workshop encompasses characterization, story and creative writing, exploring different forms of puppets and story telling.

Totally three sessions over three Saturdays.
Dates: 10th, 17th & 24th Sep 2005(all Saturdays)
Timing: 10:30 to 1 PM

• It starts off with story telling using different story telling methods and involving children in the process
• The children do various activities based on the story. Activities are based on 8 intelligences - hence child gets exposure to a very wide range of activities: From music to language, numbers, art , craft, clay , drama , puppetry, interpersonal skills, science and to everyday experiential learning.
• At the end each child "express to the group" - either the same story or any other story, or actually the child can talk about anything - the idea is to get the child to express to the group.
  Six sessions, every Friday from 26Aug to 30Sep 2005; Timing: 4-6pm;
