Hello,

My Son is 2 year 3 months old. Started school in June. But even now he cries while leaving us. I tried the following things.. Few work for few days and again back. He was happy to go when he was trying to bond with his Aunty. I used to give him picture of him in the class to see while we come to genie kids.

1)I stick bindi from my face and tell see mama is with you in the form her bindi.

2)Instead of mama dropping Daddy dropping him.

3)singing his Fav rhyme.. saying we will be back at 12:00.

4)Offering him a piece of chocolate or any of his fav food. He rejected that.

5)Letting him carry our family photo.

We tried role plays.. but most of the time he doesnt want to hear that.. He says he dont want it. He cries even on parent child days when I go with him to school. He settles down once he is in the class. Another observation I had was when he doesnt sit with me in the car.. he goes easily than when he enjoys time with me.

How can help him override this.

Thanks a lot for your assurance. Do you think coming for more observation sessions will help him settle down better?

Persevarance

It is really great to know you are applying so many strategies keep continuing with the strategy which you think is working.I would recommend you continue to be relaxed in thoughts and actions and he will settle down. Maybe he may take a little longer time to settle. In the class we have a ritual which we do is when he asks for amma as soon as he comes we do a little jig amma motorola, daddy motorola sai geniekids aunty geniekids.

Relax!

My personal experience has been that my own son cried for a whole academic year when I dropped him to school. I was not aware of any such strategies at that time, as I had not yet joined Geniekids. But the next year when he started going by van, he stopped crying completely. He used to cry only when I dropped him to school.
I would suggest that you just relax and keep applying the strategies that you are already using.
