It is a serious endeavor at IBM to carry out the work-life balance IBM offers its employees. Work-life balance initiatives is a way to thank IBM employees who contribute to IBM business goals and only cements the commitment towards making IBM the most preferred employer in the country.
Geniekids responded to IBM Global Work Life Fund's specific needs by providing, designing and delivering programs tailored to meet the needs of busy family and work styles of our employees.

  • Meaningful Learning

The Genie Kids program responds to the needs of busy families and works with corporations to customize specific programs for children and their parents. Their program meets the needs of families and provides a solution for working parents. WFD Consulting of Boston worked with Genie Kids to provide special programs for IBM through the IBM Global Work Life Fund. Children who attend the holiday and summer programs have fun and achieve academic excellence through meaningful learning and hands-on activities. Workshops educate parents about the latest theories, newer methodologies, and various techniques for learning."

  • Pre School Magic

I thought I must write to say thanks to you for the remarkable changes that I am seeing in Anoushka this year. Suddenly, she is busy writing (in fact wrote her name in leass than half a minute!!), trying to read by herself and is generally exploring and experimenting a lot. She draws designs and patterns and is able to translate her keen observations into some concrete drawings.
I am not sure how much she speaks up in class, but she has lots of stories these days to tell of her day at school. She comes to school with a sprint in her footsteps and what really touched me today was the joy with which she told me - I learnt something new amma, and her ability to keep on trying till she got it right / the way she wanted it.
    Thanks to you alll

    Ms Minakshi, Mother of Anoushka
  • Parenting Paradigm shift

Simple tips leading to paradigm shift.
It does not focus on giving solutions, but makes each one of us think to deal with our own solutions.

  • Theater Magic

Have heard so much about the sessions...the 3 weeks got over so soon :-(
Appreciate your efforts - we are told that being at "Theatre magic" was full of fun, learning, teamwork under no pressure of any kind.
It was so wonderful and touching to hear Swapna say these words.... "we were free to do and express whatever we felt like, there is no such thing as "mistake" - its about improving and Uncle never forced us to do anything but gave us a choice, and if any child did or said anything wrong, he/she was made to realise in a very nice way not shouted at - we feel we are a better team now". I had a message for me in it, I am sure.
The kids just love interacting and being with you. Appreciate and grateful for spending time that has obviously made them feel so good deep within.

    Smitha, (Mother of Swapna)
  • Thumb Sucking

I was reading your article on thumb sucking. This article is an eye opener for every parent. Thanks for such a wonderful insight, most parents are ignorant and try whatever possible way to break this habit, [also included the relatives who will go after the child to stop thumb sucking]. Do you have the T-shirt that you talk about on thumb sucking - "mera anghuta, mera mooh, tumko kya?".. I want to buy that t- shirt.

  • Pre School Fantastic Job

Just wanted to say that u all are doing a fantastic job.The amout of research and insight that goes into any topic just bewilders me....i am so happy and mentally relaxed that gaurika is part of khoj....
Wanted to write this mail for a very long time...could do it today after reading your newsletter on family.

    Nidhi (mother of Gaurika)
  • Smart Genie

i would like to 'thank you' for the Smart genie programme. The kids have been having a wonderful time. We are slowly breaking the news to the children that it would get over next week. Sujatha has been amazing with the kids. The kids adore her. I am moved at her dedication to the whole programme.
THANK YOU SO MUCH once again.

    Subha, proprietress, Discovery kids
  • Eye Opener (Sex-Edu)

It was an eye-opener. I am happy i could attend it at the right time. Learned many small things which are imp. in big way. Yes, it was very interesting; and to the point. The interactive way /approach was very refreshing. Sex education is very important right from the beginning. The process is gradual. The Taboo related to sex education shall go. I think something to do with the word 'SEX' that we have some mental block. Must think of some creative name so it is accepted more openly :)

    Sheetal (parent)
  • Awareness

The session was wonderful. Such a complex topic handled very well keeping it simple :). Parents shared their experience and people learn from experience. I felt it was really a real life session, everyone was open to ideas, thoughts. I would say, it was really an eye opener. Gave me a direction to think and generated a awareness in my mind. I am sure, going forward I would be very comfortable with my child when I talk about sex education.

    Mr Rahul Pujari (father)
  • My Inhibitions

Session was thought provoking and made me think a lot about the topic and how I deal with it. It made me aware of my own inhibitions and how I am unconsciously passing that on to my children.

    Mrs Meena (mother)
  • Significant Improvement

Thanks for the help. We are following your instructions and we have found a lot of improvement in my child

    Giridhara (father)
  • Efforts

Suddenly remembered that the first session was over a week ago and wanted to see the teacher's observations....Was I surprised when I could exactly identify my kid in what Geetha Aunty had posted as her observations. His way of saying "Hullo", and then that he would come tomorrow...and to think of the commitment and effort it would take to do this for every child....laudable...and as a parent am grateful....for giving a vivid picture of him at class...

    Parent of Mrityunjay (Success Saturday)
  • Need of the day

I would like to know who designed these programs, modules etc ?? Such programs are the need today and I feel that these programs should be introduced in all educational systems. I have a Social Work background and I really feel that Life Skills are far more important than academics.

    Mrs Madhua
  • easy to talk

'Talking' at home about sex education related topics to my kids and particularly by my kids has been progressing! Surprisingly whatever we openly talk has been taken very casually. No fuss is being made about it. It proves me so wrong, i was all so tense about it.- Manjusha.

  • Music music everywhere

Your last week - music week - was a real hit. We are forever singing and dancing and playing rhythmns of various kinds. It has really kindled my daughters curiosity. We are forever trying to catch the beats of various songs and rhymes.

The last comment was - Ratnesh Uncle plays music the best ( and she has had exposure to music, although no one lest them get so up close and give that much of touch and feel...)mother of Anoushka

  • Connected

This year I am very happy to be so well connected with the success saturday programme. It is nice to be able to read the activity schedule, kids' observations and about the tool. The idea of the tool is also very well recieved by the kids and the parents in our case. We are using all the tools with great enthusiasm. Thanks

Trupti (mother of Ishan and Ashwin)
  • Touchy

It was quite an useful seminar (Preparing Children Sexually). I could find out how little I know about talking to kids on this touchy subject. Although my wife & I wanted to attend this together, she couldn't join this due to some personal reasons. I shared with my wife about the session and she was quite interested too. Please convey my appreciation to Ms. Aditi.

  • Expereince

The card was a good experience. Rishikesh did most of it.
( The colouring and identifying of alphabets from the news paper.)
I just wrote the words in a sheet of paper.
Also liked the activity of learning the phone number ,which is part of this
months home work. Will try to make Rishikesh do the same.
My mom was also happy to visit her grandsons school :-)

    Madhulika Rao (mother of Rishikesh)

  • Enjoyed

I could enroll my child only for the last two weeks. As I could understand from my daughter Renee, she has enjoyed the two weeks of the program. She was very happy going to Genniekids. When we ask her, what did you do? she used to tell, I was very busy doing lot of things....painting,cutting, pasting, doing something with clay etc. She is just 5 years old, I couldn't get much more detailed feed back. I couldn't get any other clue to measure the effectiveness. But, I believe these two weeks were very useful.

A CONFIDENT EMPOWERED PERSON IN MY SON. ratnesh for me its a big deal ,as i know how my son was.

  • motivating

Very nice article, truly motivating and encouraging. I hope so too that more parents get involved with the kids and try to grow as parents with the kids.
    Keep up the good work.

Prachi Agarwal (Mom of a 5yr old preschooler and toddler)
  • Nisha Bhimaiah

It was nice being in your session Saturday. I have
been an ardent reader of your articles in the news
letters and it has definitely helped me in enhancing
    my parenting skills.

  • compliment for trainers

here is another true compliment that you must share with your course trainers!!
Today morning as I was on the way to Genie kids to drop Radhika for her holiday camp, she tells me that "why cant the teachers at all my schools be like Genie kids aunties ? "
..........there is this huge self esteem that your team is building in kids ; they seem to like themselves more while they are doing activities at Genie kids.
Keep up the good work !

    Mohit Mehrotra (father of Radhika)
  • Learning has no barriers

A very nice message, Ratnesh. Even though I have never attended any of your programs and even though my daughter has never participated in any of your programs, I have enjoyed reading every one of the messages you have posted to this group and have found value in most of them.
Thanks for sharing such nuggets and showing that "Learning has no age barriers"
